Welcome to my personal page!.
I felt in love with Science and Physics when I was barely a teenager and didn't stop questions that my parents couldn't answer. Since then I have been engaged in seeking for those answers, for the small and the large questions alike.
I am a theoretical physicist, and I work currently as a post-doctoral fellow at Fudan University, after living in Italy, France, Brazil and China. Currently, my main research line deals with gravitational physics including extensions of Einstein's theory of General Relativity, but I am interested in many other aspects of theoretical physics. Science in the twenty-first century is a collective enterprise, and I love to meet and communicate with other researchers around the world. After all, doing Physics and research is more a philosophy of living than a a regular job. If you want to join me in any of my topics of research, please do not hesitate to contact me!.

MY LATEST RESEARCH

Topological defects are configurations of (non-linear) field theory which interpolate between different vacua. Recently, in colaboration with R. Casana and E. da Hora (Maranhao University) and C. dos Santos (Porto University) we found vortex-type of such solutions in a generalized version of Born-Infeld-Higgs electrodynamics and characterized their properties for different choices of the free functions present in the model. The arXiv version can be found here.

A study on geodesic completeness in a wormhole space-time generated in a Palatini theory of gravity satisfying the energy conditions has been completed through a collaboration with G. J. Olmo and A. Sanchez-Puente (Valencia University). The main result is that curvature divergences do not prevent all null and time-like geodesics to be extended to arbitrarily large values of the affine parameter. Thus, these represent non-singular space-times. More details here.
ABOUT ME
September 7-11
I will be participating in the Spanish Relativity Meeting 2015, an international meeting organizing by the Spanish Relativity Association, to be held in Palma de Mallorca (Spain). I will deliver a talk entitled: ``Classical effective geometries without space-time singularities".

Modifications of the Reissner-Nordström solution of the Einstein-Maxwell field equations replacing the point-like singularity of GR by a wormhole structure can be obtained in f(R)-type modifications formulated in the Palatini approach. Such a wormhole structure, generated by a specific kind of fluid, yields a geodesically complete space-time. This research, made in collaboration with G. J. Olmo, has been published in an special issue of Universe, and can be found here.

In collaboration with D. Bazeia, L. Losano, R. Menezes and G. J. Olmo, we have been accepted the paper "Robustness of braneworld scenarios against tensorial perturbations" for publication in Class. Quant. Grav. In this paper we showed that for a general class of gravitational models described a five dimensional branes, the tensorial perturbations have a non negative definite spectrum, which makes them stable under linear perturbations. The arXiv version of this work can be found here.
